Summary
- Jack Lord lived his final years in Hawaii as he predicted.
- James MacArthur died before a planned reboot guest appearance.
- Original cast members reprised roles in a 1997 reboot pilot.

The beloved cast of "Hawaii Five-O" embarked on varied journeys after the series finale in 1980. Lead actor Jack Lord, who embodied Captain McGarrett, remained in Hawaii as he had always intended, passing away in 1998 at age 77. His estate was later bequeathed to Hawaiian charities.
James MacArthur, who portrayed Danno, was the son of famed theatrical parents and had a prior career with Disney. He left "Hawaii Five-O" before its final season to explore other opportunities. Tragically, MacArthur died at 72 before he could film a planned guest appearance on the reboot series.
Other cast members like Kam Fong Chun (Chin Ho Kelly) and Zulu (Kono Kalakaua) also had connections to the show's revival, appearing in a 1997 reboot pilot. Chun requested his character be killed off due to stale scripts, while Zulu reportedly departed after a dispute. Both, alongside actors like Glenn Cannon and Herman Wedemeyer, saw their final acting roles in that pilot.
