Summary
- Haunted - Ghosts Of The Past, sequel to 2011 hit, postponed to January 2026
- Director Vikram Bhatt reshoot 12 days of footage in real locations after fan demand
- Bhatt claims the 3D in the sequel will be the "best to date in Indian cinema"
In a surprising move, the release of Haunted - Ghosts Of The Past, the sequel to the 2011 hit Haunted, has been pushed back to January 2026. According to director Vikram Bhatt, the delay is due to a personal tragedy - the passing of his mother in September 2025 - which impacted the VFX work required for the film.
However, Bhatt also revealed that the decision to postpone the film was influenced by fan feedback. After the release of the teaser in September 2025, fans of the Haunted franchise expressed dissatisfaction with the use of VFX and demanded more real-world locations. Bhatt, known for listening to his audience, promptly responded by shooting an additional 12 days of footage on location.
The director is confident that the extra effort will pay off, stating that Haunted - Ghosts Of The Past will feature the "best 3D to date in Indian cinema." Bhatt is particularly proud of the 3D elements, which he claims will transport viewers to a "strange new world" as per the film's narrative.
