- First season adapts Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
- Season 2 will see a recast role for Ginny Weasley due to unforeseen circumstances.

The highly anticipated HBO television adaptation of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series has cast Katherine Parkinson as Mrs. Weasley. Parkinson, known for her role in "Rivals," will feature in the inaugural season, which adapts "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." The series began production in July of the current year, with an eight-episode first season scheduled for a Christmas premiere.
Parkinson shared her enchantment with the young cast, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. She mentioned her role is more extensive in the second season. Filming for the first season occurred in August at London's King's Cross station.
HBO has confirmed that "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" will be adapted for the second season. However, Gracie Cochrane, who plays Ginny Weasley in season 1, will be recast due to unforeseen circumstances. The network and Cochrane's family have expressed mutual support for this decision.
HBO CEO Casey Bloys stated that each of Rowling's seven books will inspire its own season. While not an annual release due to the massive scale of production, the goal is to minimize gaps between seasons, especially considering the young actors' growth. The show's premiere is set for Christmas.
