Ford Found Belonging in Drama Class

In a recent interview, veteran actor Harrison Ford opened up about his past battles with depression during his time at Ripon College in the 1960s. Ford described intense periods of isolation, spending days in his dorm room and struggling to attend classes. He recalled feeling "socially ill, psychologically not well."

His college experience shifted dramatically when he joined a drama class, initially to improve his GPA. Ford discovered a passion for acting and found a sense of community among his peers. He credited the storytelling aspect of theater with giving him focus and a profound sense of belonging.

Ford, who studied philosophy, also disclosed that he was expelled from college for plagiarism just four days before his scheduled graduation. He admitted to not properly attributing sources in his senior thesis, leading to the academic misconduct charge.
