Coben's New Netflix Thriller Explores Addiction's Grip

Netflix is set to launch Harlan Coben's latest series, 'Run Away,' on January 1st, following the success of 'Missing You.' This new eight-hour-long series adapts Coben's novel, shifting the story's setting from the U.S. to the U.K., with filming centered around Manchester and the North West of England. Lead writer Danny Brocklehurst noted his preference for shooting "close to home."

The series centers on the emotional struggles parents face when a child grapples with addiction, blended with the signature mystery audiences expect from Coben. The inspiration behind the story stems from Coben's personal experience with a parental worry about his daughter's potential drug use. He found the narrative spark while observing a busker in Central Park.

Actors Richard Armitage and Sarah Jones praised the collaborative production atmosphere. Armitage, playing a father himself, found his role deeply resonant. Jones expressed initial nerves about acting alongside Armitage but found their on-screen dynamic clicked immediately, portraying a refreshing, non-romanticized male-female friendship.
