Henry Winkler, the iconic actor from the hit TV series 'Happy Days', has found a new passion in writing children's books. Diagnosed with dyslexia in his 30s, Winkler, now 79, is determined to inspire kids to embrace reading and discover their own unique talents.
In 2004, Winkler teamed up with children's book author Lin Oliver to create the 'Hank Zipzer' series, which follows the adventures of a young boy with learning differences. Now, the duo has launched a new series featuring a charming character called 'Detective Duck'.
The third book in the 'Detective Duck' series, 'The Mystery at Emerald Pond', is set to release on September 30, 2025. The story follows the feisty, resourceful duck and her pond squad friends as they navigate themes of friendship, friendly competition, and the dangers of plastic pollution.
Winkler and Oliver's creative partnership has resulted in 40 books so far, with Winkler providing the ideas and Oliver bringing them to life through her writing. The books are further brought to life by the vibrant illustrations of Dan Santat.
Winkler, a devoted family man, believes that if he wasn't an actor, he would have worked with children to help build their self-esteem and confidence. Through the 'Detective Duck' series, he aims to not only entertain young readers but also inspire them to embrace their unique talents and find joy in reading.
