Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was filled with vibrant colors on Wednesday as foreign tourists and locals celebrated Holi together. Hundreds of international visitors, already in Hampi, enthusiastically participated in the festivities, sharing in the joyful spirit with local youth and children.
The celebrations were most vivid around the historic Virupaksha Temple, along the King's Avenue, and near the Basavanna Mantapa, as well as on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. Tourists and residents alike engaged in playful exchanges of color and cheerful greetings, embodying a spirit of unity.
The festive atmosphere spread beyond the temple precincts to areas like Kamalapur and Kaddirampur, the bus stand, and near Sasivekalu Ganesha. Visitors and locals danced to the rhythm of traditional drums, highlighting Hampi's welcoming nature and the cultural harmony experienced during the festival. Security arrangements were overseen by SP S Jahnavi and DSP Dr T Manjunath.
