The ring features an inscription reading "Your Frende in Deede," interpreted as a symbol of loyalty. Its proximity to Bushwood Hall, which served as a conspirators' hideout, strengthens the potential connection. Experts suggest the artifact could have belonged to one of the plotters involved in the attempt to destroy the Houses of Parliament.
This intriguing piece of history is scheduled for auction on November 27, with predictions it could fetch up to £12,000. Auctioneer Charles Hanson noted the historical context of a large Catholic population in the Midlands providing safe houses for the plotters, making the ring's discovery particularly resonant.
