While Gunna has not yet set a definitive release date for 'Splurge,' he suggested it could be ready as early as the following month, contingent on his personal readiness. This project follows his 2025 album, 'The Last Wun,' which achieved a No. 3 debut on the Billboard 200 with 80,000 album-equivalent units.
Addressing speculation about his record label situation, Gunna clarified that he is not a free agent. Despite no solo single releases in 2026, Gunna has been active with collaborations, including features on Shaboozey's "High Noon" and Rich The Kid's "Too Bad" this past summer. Gunna has maintained a consistent release schedule since 2022, with 'The Last Wun' marking his seventh top 10 project.
