Director Aditya Datt has infused Gunmaster G9 with a personal tribute to his maternal grandfather, lyricist Anand Bakshi. Emraan Hashmi's character in the action thriller adopts Bakshi's distinctive smoking mannerisms.
This detail serves as a nod to Bakshi's significant influence on Datt's career. The lyricist actively encouraged Datt's pursuit of filmmaking, even connecting him with director Mahesh Bhatt.
Gunmaster G9, also starring Genelia Deshmukh, features Hashmi as a man drawn into assassination after his wife is targeted by a mafia syndicate. Datt describes his directorial style as heightened and cinematic, prioritizing screen logic over strict realism.
This collaboration marks the third pairing of Datt and Hashmi, following 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' (2005) and 'Dil Diya Hai' (2006). The film is scheduled for release on November 27, 2026.
