Guneet Monga Breaks Silence on Irrfan-Nawazuddin Tensions During 'The Lunchbox' Shoot

In a recent conversation, acclaimed producer Guneet Monga shed light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics during the making of the 2013 film 'The Lunchbox'. Monga acknowledged the tensions that existed between the film's lead actors, the late Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, but emphasized that it was a natural part of the creative process.

Monga explained that both actors had their own unique styles of working, which sometimes led to on-set friction. However, she noted that this tension and interplay between the characters ultimately translated into their powerful performances on screen. Monga praised the actors, describing their work as "magical" and "one of their best performances".

The producer also revealed the crucial role played by Karan Johar in helping 'The Lunchbox' reach a wider audience. Johar not only presented the film in India but also provided valuable input, including the film's memorable tagline: "Can you fall in love with somebody you have never met?" Monga credited Johar's support in securing a 500-screen release for the film, a significant increase from the initial 100-screen plan.

Despite the challenges, Monga expressed her deep gratitude for the opportunity to work with Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She emphasized that the tensions on set were a natural part of the creative process and did not significantly impact the production or her overall experience.
