Gulshan Devaiah Shares Kantara 1 Filming Secrets: Fainting Fans, Challenging Horse Scenes

In an exclusive interview, Gulshan Devaiah, who portrays King Kulashekhara in the hit film Kantara: Chapter 1, has shared intriguing details about his experience filming the movie. Directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara 1 was shot primarily in real-life forest locations in Karnataka, adding authenticity and a sense of danger to every scene.

Devaiah reveals that the first scene he shot for the film was his coronation sequence, which involved long hours, diesel lamps for lighting, and even a fainting fan. "A woman, a fan girl of mine passed out also, because it got really hot," he recounts. Despite the challenges, Devaiah was determined to take on the role, believing that to achieve great things, one must "go against the grain" and "swim against the stream."

The actor also discusses the most physically and technically grueling scene - the iconic horse sequence. As a novice rider, Devaiah had to control the well-trained horse amidst the chaos of the war scene, which took 20-21 days to shoot. "I'm very proud that I managed to technically get through those scenes," he says.

Beyond the technical aspects, Kantara 1 delves into the ancient roots of the "Bhoota Kola" culture of coastal Karnataka, reviving the sacred daiva worship practices. While Devaiah's personal spiritual perspective differs from that of director Rishab Shetty, who is deeply rooted in the traditions of the region, the actor appreciates the film's sincere exploration of these beliefs.
