Summary
- Nigerian-British actor Chukwudi Iwuji interested in playing Joker
- Iwuji has close ties to DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn
- Envisions Joker as a character filled with pain and sadness

As the DC Universe continues to expand, one of the most coveted roles up for grabs is that of the Joker. While Joaquin Phoenix and Barry Keoghan have recently portrayed the Clown Prince of Crime, another actor has thrown his hat into the ring – Chukwudi Iwuji.
The Nigerian-British actor, known for his role as the High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, has a close relationship with DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn. In a recent interview, Iwuji expressed his interest in taking on the iconic Joker character, noting that he already has a clear vision for the role.
Iwuji envisions the Joker as a character filled with pain and sadness, whose inability to see beyond his own struggles would put everyone around him in danger. This contrasts with the more unhinged and chaotic portrayals of the Joker seen in recent years, such as Heath Ledger's acclaimed performance in The Dark Knight.
While Iwuji's Peacemaker co-star Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker have already played multiple roles in the DC Universe, the actor believes he would not be disqualified from the conversation. With the future of the Joker and the Batman-related storylines in the DC Universe still largely a mystery, Iwuji's unique take on the character could certainly make him a compelling contender for the role.
