Italian film director Luca Guadagnino and his frequent production designer, Stefano Baisi, have unveiled a comprehensive collection for Zara Home and Zara. Titled 'Baisi Guadagnino for Zara Home,' the extensive line features over 200 distinct items. These offerings include furniture, lighting fixtures, tableware, rugs, decorative objects, and fragrances, complementing Zara's ready-to-wear apparel.
The collection, conceptualized as an 'Atlas of Desire,' draws inspiration from diverse styles like Viennese Secessionism, French Art Deco, and Brazilian Modernism. The price points vary significantly, with clothing items ranging from $40 to $460 and furniture pieces extending up to $18,000. This collaboration aims to allow consumers to experience a world akin to those depicted in Guadagnino's films.
The launch is accompanied by a short film directed by Guadagnino himself, starring Jamie Bell, Chase Sui Wonders, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Patricia Arquette. Additionally, the collection will be showcased through a two-day installation during Milan Fashion Week. This venture signifies Zara's increasing ambition to elevate its market presence through high-profile collaborations.
Guadagnino's foray into interiors through his Milan-based design practice, Studio Luca Guadagnino, founded in 2017, showcases his consistent attention to color, texture, and environment. His previous work includes residential, hotel, and retail spaces, as well as runway set designs, notably for Jonathan Anderson's Dior women's ready-to-wear show. This expansive project with Zara Home represents a significant fusion of fashion, interior design, and filmmaking.
