A new installment in the popular Gruffalo series, titled "Gruffalo Granny," is set to be published on September 10. The author, Julia Donaldson, stated that the campaign to encourage children's reading inspired her to write this new story.
The upcoming book introduces a new character, Gruffalo Granny, and will feature illustrations by Axel Scheffler. This collaboration between Donaldson and Scheffler revives beloved characters like Fox, Snake, Owl, and Mouse. The previous two books have sold over 18 million copies combined and have been translated into 115 languages.
"Gruffalo Granny" is being released during the National Year of Reading, with plans to support charitable activities and reach young readers through the National Literacy Trust. An early preview of Scheffler's illustration will be projected in central London and Glasgow on Friday evening.
