The Hammond House International Literary Festival, known as LitFest, is celebrating a substantial grant of nearly £59,000 from Arts Council England. This funding is designated to support the festival's operations and expansion over the upcoming two years.
Project manager Jessica Johnson highlighted that the grant will enable the festival to collaborate with more local creatives, ensuring they are compensated fairly and allowing for the development of wider projects. The festival aims to foster a vibrant environment for writers to connect, develop, and advance their skills.
Currently underway in Grimsby until February 25, LitFest features engaging events, including workshops led by Paul Basset Davies, a writer with extensive experience in British comedy, and illustrator Debasmita Dasgupta. The festival culminates on February 25 with an awards ceremony at University Centre, Grimsby, showcasing shortlisted competition entries to be published in an anthology.
