Grimes Worries "Beauty Culture" Will Impact Her and Elon Musk's Daughter

In October 2025, Grimes, the musician also known as Claire Boucher, surprised her fans by revealing that she had gotten a face tattoo a few months prior, but no one had noticed. Sharing a makeup-free photo, Grimes expressed her confusion, writing on X (formerly Twitter) that she was unsure why the large circle encompassing her left eye was "imperceptible."

As Grimes further explained on Instagram, she had spent around 10 years "emotionally working up to a face tattoo." However, she felt that her previous experience of drawing on her face had desensitized people to the point where even her parents didn't notice the new ink. Grimes credited her tattoo artist, calling the cybersigilism design "genius level work" that blends ancient symbolism with cyberpunk aesthetics.

Despite her excitement over the tattoo, Grimes expressed concerns about the potential impact of "beauty culture" on her and ex-partner Elon Musk's three children: X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno "Tau" Mechanicus. As a parent, Grimes is worried about how societal pressures around appearance may affect her daughter's self-esteem and well-being.
