The CBS legal drama Matlock, an adaptation of the hit '80s series of the same name, has been renewed for a second season. The show premiered just weeks earlier in October 2024 and follows widowed former attorney Matty Matlock, who talked her way into a job at a prestigious New York law firm.
Matlock wasn't just there to keep busy after her daughter's tragic death in the opioid epidemic. She believed someone at the firm hid evidence that could have saved her daughter. By the end of season 1, the audience learned the person responsible was Julian, the ex-husband of Matlock's colleague Olympia.
As executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman explains, "It's just as bad as it gets. Because you felt like the hope of a friendship could come for Olympia and Matty, and then Olympia gets this information." This sets up a "terrible, but delicious dilemma" for season 2, which premieres on October 12, 2025.
