As of October 2025, the hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy has been on the air for 22 years. While the show's lead actress, Ellen Pompeo, has reduced her on-screen presence in recent years, two actors have remained series regulars since the show's premiere in 2005: Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr.
Chandra Wilson, who plays the role of Miranda Bailey, has been a constant presence on the show, known for her memorable "I have five rules" speech in the very first episode. However, Wilson revealed that after her first season, she thought her time on the show was over when she became pregnant with her third child. Surprisingly, Shonda Rhimes, the show's creator, allowed Wilson to continue in her role, making her son the medical drama's first "show baby." Since then, the series has welcomed at least 36 babies born to various cast members, as Rhimes has gained a reputation for being incredibly supportive of her pregnant actresses.
