"Nimrods: A Green Day Story," a comedy from writer-director Lee Kirk, is set to be presented at the Cannes market. The film delves into the adventures of the rock band Green Day during their pre-fame period living in a van. Palisades Park Pictures has secured international sales rights, with a worldwide theatrical launch planned for August.
Inaugural Entertainment will manage U.S. distribution for the feature, which stars Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Sean Gunn, Bobby Lee, and Fred Armisen. The film also features appearances and performances by Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool, and Mike Dirnt.
The narrative centers on three high school friends embarking on a road trip under the false impression that their band has been booked to open for Green Day on New Year's Eve. The movie is produced by members of Green Day alongside Tim Perell.
Palisades Park Pictures CEO Tamara Birkemoe praised the film for its heart, edge, and authentic portrayal of youth. Kirk, who previously directed Armstrong, wrote "Nimrods" based on his development work with the band and Live Nation Studios.
