Waukesha Welcomes Iconic Greek Fest After 6 Decades
15 Jun
Summary
- Greek Fest relocates to Waukesha for its first event since the move.
- The festival is the church's primary fundraiser for ministries.
- A new gyro brat honors both Greek heritage and Wisconsin history.

The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church's Greek Fest, a tradition spanning over six decades, is set to hold its inaugural event in Waukesha from June 19 to June 21. This significant relocation marks a new chapter for the festival, which serves as the church's largest fundraiser for its ministries and community outreach in Southeast Wisconsin.
The event will be hosted at the Waukesha County Expo Center grounds. This move was necessitated by the need for greater space to accommodate its growing, loyal audience and to better manage operational costs, according to church officials. The expo center's grounds provide the necessary facilities for the expansive event.
Festivities will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 19, accompanied by the serving of signature gyros. Attendees can also anticipate other traditional Greek culinary delights, including spit-roasted chicken and lamb, saganaki, and loukoumades. A novel addition this year is the gyro brat, a dish created to honor both the church's Greek heritage and its long-standing presence in Wisconsin.
Beyond the food, the festival will feature traditional Greek dance performances and a selection of Greek-Orthodox shopping and gift opportunities. The event's operating hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on June 19 and June 20, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 21. Church officials have expressed optimism for a long-term partnership with Waukesha County.
