Nearly 43 years after the release of Grease 2, Michelle Pfeiffer is opening up about the cult status of the 1982 musical comedy. In a recent episode of the SmartLess podcast, Pfeiffer, now 67, discussed her experience starring in the sequel to the 1978 hit Grease.
Co-host Sean Hayes revealed that Grease 2 is one of his "favorite movies" of all time, saying he and his sister watched it "a thousand times" and know "every word and every song." Hayes called the film a "huge part" of his "childhood."
Pfeiffer confessed that she was "terrified" to take on the lead role, given the massive success of the original Grease, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. "You know, look, it's John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and the first one was amazing and such a cult following and so successful," she said.
Despite the nerves, Pfeiffer said she loved "dancing and singing" in the film. She even revealed that she still has the bowling ball and case from the movie's bowling-themed number "Score Tonight." Pfeiffer also shared that one of her favorite parts of the film is "A Girl for All Seasons," where she was "dressed as a Christmas tree."
While Grease 2 did not receive the same critical acclaim as the first film, it has since developed a passionate cult following, with fans continuing to celebrate its legacy over four decades later.
