In a heartbreaking revelation, Granger Smith's wife, Amber, has detailed her husband's suicide attempt following the tragic death of their 3-year-old son River. In her upcoming memoir, "The Girl on the Bathroom Floor," Amber writes that Granger, now 46, "put a cold Glock 9mm into his mouth" as he struggled with suicidal thoughts in the aftermath of their son's passing.
Amber, 43, says she wishes she had known the extent of Granger's anguish, as she "cry[s] even typing this." The couple, who are also parents to three other children, have been advocates for water safety since River's death, which occurred after a "tragic accident" in 2019. Granger has also shifted away from his music career to pursue ministry, finding solace in his faith during this difficult time.
Despite the heartbreak, Amber shares that Granger became "aware that the voice quietly telling him to pull the trigger wasn't his own" and realized he was "under attack" in a moment of spiritual warfare. The couple's journey has been one of immense grief, but also of resilience and a renewed commitment to their family and their faith.
