The prestigious award recognized "Wildflower" among a competitive field of nominees. Doechii's "Anxiety" received the highest number of nominations in the category with five, vying for Record of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video in addition to Song of the Year. Sabrina Carpenter's "Manchild" followed with four nods, including Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Other nominees included Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra," Rosé and Bruno Mars' "Apt.," Bad Bunny's "DtMF," Huntr/x's "Golden," and Kendrick Lamar's "Luther" featuring SZA. Many of these artists had already accumulated significant Grammy history, with Lamar holding 22 past wins, Mars 16, and Gaga 14. Bad Bunny led overall nominations for the night with six nods.
