In October 2025, actor Rajat Bedi recalled an incident from the 1990s involving Govinda's notorious lateness on set. During the filming of the movie 'Jodi No. 1', Govinda's delay left his co-star Sanjay Dutt waiting for nearly 9 hours, eventually forcing director David Dhawan to alter the scene they were supposed to shoot.
Bedi, who is making a comeback with Aryan Khan's show 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood', described Govinda as a "great human being" who nonetheless had "a very big problem" with punctuality. On the day of the incident, Sanjay Dutt and Bedi arrived on set at 6 am, only to find that most of the crew had not yet arrived, as they were waiting for Govinda. By 2 pm, Sanjay was "freaking out" due to the long wait.
The situation took an unexpected turn when they discovered that Govinda was not even in Mumbai, but was flying in from Hyderabad and arrived on set at 3 pm. When Govinda finally arrived, ready to shoot, Sanjay noticed he had far more dialogue than Govinda, which did not sit well with him. The scene had to be changed on the spot.
Despite the chaos and the long wait, Govinda's brilliance in front of the camera shone through. Once the camera rolled, he completed the entire scene in just 2 hours, proving that "he is a performer."
