Governor Explores Ancient Manuscripts in Thanjavur

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar undertook a visit to the revered Sarasvati Mahal Library in Thanjavur on Wednesday. The 500-year-old institution, a significant cultural landmark of Tamil Nadu, showcased its collection of ancient palm-leaf manuscripts, rare books, and historical maps to the governor.
Established during the Nayak period and further developed by Maratha rulers like Serfoji II, the library houses thousands of invaluable manuscripts. Governor Arlekar also took the opportunity to inspect the current renovation projects underway at the historic site.
Prior to his library visit, the governor arrived in Trichy and traveled to Thanjavur. He was welcomed by local officials before visiting the Thanjavur Palace complex. His tour included a puja at the Chandramouliswarar temple and an inspection of the 15th-century Durbar Hall.
