William Golding's seminal 1954 novel is brought to television for the first time in a new BBC and Stan limited series. The story follows a group of young boys who become stranded on a deserted tropical island.
Initially, the boys attempt to establish a civilized society, with Ralph, supported by the intellectual Piggy, taking the lead. However, their efforts are challenged by Jack, who creates a division.
This division escalates, sending the boys on a harrowing course from hope to profound tragedy. The ensemble cast features Winston Sawyers as Ralph and David McKenna as Piggy, with Lox Pratt as the antagonistic Jack.
Music for the series is composed by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Cristobal Tapia de Veer. This marks the first television adaptation, though the novel was previously adapted into films in 1963, 1975, and 1990.
