Summary
- A widower donated his late wife's glockenspiel to a youth band.
- His wife Alison struggled with arthritis and found joy in the glockenspiel.
- The instrument was a wedding gift from her husband 29 years ago.

Andrew Keirl, a widower from Liskeard, Cornwall, has gifted his late wife Alison's glockenspiel to the Cornwall Youth Brass Band, ensuring her passion for music will continue.
Alison, who previously enjoyed piano and violin, found the glockenspiel an accessible and enjoyable instrument due to rheumatoid arthritis. The glockenspiel, a top-of-the-range instrument Andrew gave her 29 years ago as a wedding present, became a treasured possession.
Following Alison's passing last April after a stroke, Andrew wished for the glockenspiel "to be used" by young people, emphasizing music's crucial role in youth development, fostering teamwork and social connections.
His donation has been recognized with honorary membership in the Cornwall Youth Brass Band, where a young percussionist described learning the glockenspiel as "fun" and unique.
