International entertainment studio MFF & Co, in collaboration with Brazilian media giant Globo, has enlisted prominent U.S. writers to adapt three of Globo's telenovelas for North American viewers. Alexander Maggio, Jenny Lynn, and Ted Sullivan, who have previously worked on high-profile U.S. series, are set to reimagine these stories in English and adapt them into traditional multi-season formats.
Maggio will adapt the International Emmy-winning "Empire" (2014-15), a drama centered on a millionaire's battle for his jewelry empire. Jenny Lynn is tackling "The Other Side of Paradise" (2017-18), an international hit about a young woman seeking revenge after being wronged by her mother-in-law.
Ted Sullivan is set to adapt the epic "King of Cattle" (1996-97), a WWII-era romance and decades-long feud between immigrant families. These adaptations are designed to capture the emotional intensity of the original telenovelas for a contemporary North American audience, marking a significant step in the MFF & Co and Globo partnership.
