Globo's Global Reach: BBC Buys Brazilian Werewolf Thriller

Globo's international expansion is accelerating with major format deals and content sales, highlighted at Mipcom. The Brazilian media giant has sold the teen werewolf/vampire thriller "Blood Red - Under the Moonlight" to the BBC, marking a first for its streaming service, Globoplay, to license an Original to the UK broadcaster for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.

This deal is part of a series of strategic partnerships and format sales spotlighted at Mipcom, including collaborations with Portugal's SIC, Turkey's Ay Yapim, and Greece's Alpha TV. These ventures underscore Globo's commitment to making its diverse portfolio and formats relevant in global markets.

Globo's Super Drama productions, such as "Anything Goes" and "Three Graces," were also featured, showcasing the company's production capabilities. "The Playoffs," an adrenaline-pumping series about professional soccer, recently premiered at SXSW London, further demonstrating Globo's presence on the international circuit.

Further international reach is evident with adaptations of "Brazil Avenue" for Portugal's SIC and a three-format deal with Turkey's Ay Yapim. In Greece, adaptations of "The Others" and "All The Flowers" are in production with Alpha TV, solidifying Globo's strategy of creating local versions of Brazilian stories.

In recognition of its impact on social causes, Globo will be honored with the 2026 Mipcom Recognition for SDG Impact award. This acknowledges the company's dedication to storytelling that resonates deeply with audiences across various platforms and generations.
