Groundworks have commenced at the Glencoe Folk Museum, signaling a major milestone in its £3 million refurbishment project. The museum, which is situated within two traditional heather-thatched cottages in Lochaber, was established over 50 years ago following a community effort to save the buildings from demolition.
This significant revamp will introduce a modern extension featuring a climate-controlled exhibition gallery, a much-needed gift shop, and the museum's first restroom facilities. The collection boasts 6,000 artefacts, encompassing items of historical importance such as Jacobite relics and memorabilia from both World Wars, which will be better preserved and displayed.
