Glen Powell's Prosthetic Transformation Steals the Spotlight in 'Chad Powers'
26 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Glen Powell leads and co-created new Hulu series 'Chad Powers'
- Powell wears prosthetics and wig to play disgraced college QB
- Peyton Manning mocks brother Eli's cameo, glad it's Powell in the role
In the new Hulu series 'Chad Powers', actor Glen Powell takes the lead role as a disgraced former college quarterback trying to make a comeback. The show, which Powell also co-created, sees him donning an elaborate prosthetic disguise, including a fake nose and wig, to hide his true identity.
At the show's Los Angeles premiere last week, Powell revealed he's been reluctant to remove the prosthetics, even when not filming. He plans to reach out to the makeup and prosthetics team to see if he can borrow the 'Chad' look for personal use. Calling the character "the most fun I've ever played," Powell is clearly eager to continue embodying the quirky quarterback.
The 'Chad Powers' character is based on a viral 2022 skit featuring Eli Manning in a similar prosthetic disguise trying out for the Penn State football team. Eli and his brother Peyton, who serves as an executive producer on the series, admitted they had no idea the short video would work as a larger scripted story. Peyton even joked that he's glad it's the more handsome Glen Powell, not his brother Eli, playing the lead role, as "watching Eli for eight minutes in that viral video, that's one thing, but six episodes that's a lot of Eli."
With the show's unique premise and Powell's standout performance, it seems 'Chad Powers' is poised to be a hit when it premieres on Hulu next week.
