The Russian dancer and choreographer addressed speculation about his absence in a recent Instagram post, assuring fans that he is doing well and expressed gratitude for his years on the show. Savchenko competed in 12 seasons of the U.S. version of DWTS, along with appearances on international editions. His partnerships have included notable celebrities such as Lisa Vanderpump and Hilaria Baldwin. He also participated in a same-sex pairing with drag queen Shangela in season 31.

Savchenko’s personal life, particularly his relationship with season 33 partner Brooks Nader, drew significant media attention in April 2025. Reports at the time indicated their breakup was due to allegations of infidelity, which Savchenko denied. Interestingly, Nader's sister, Sarah Jane, has been cast as a professional dancer for season 35, forming one of the show's same-sex pairings. The new season's cast includes other celebrities like Jenna Dewan and Julia Stiles, with the premiere set for September 15 and 16, 2026.
