Scottish Music Hall of Fame Bid Launched for CCA

A compelling proposal is emerging to revitalize Glasgow's Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA). The group ScotsRock aims to secure the Sauchiehall Street building and repurpose it as a Scottish Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This ambitious project seeks to establish a vibrant hub dedicated to showcasing Scotland's profound impact on the global music scene.

The initiative has already attracted significant backing from a constellation of Scottish music icons. Midge Ure, a legendary figure whose career spans Ultravox and Band Aid, has agreed to serve as the inaugural Patron. Support has also been pledged by Lulu, Jim Kerr of Simple Minds, Travis, and Del Amitri, underscoring the widespread enthusiasm for this endeavor.

Numerous artists have been suggested by the public for inclusion in this hall of fame. Among the many nominated are Big Country, Annie Lennox, the Bay City Rollers, Skids, Primal Scream, Fish (Marillion), Simple Minds, Gerry Rafferty, Callum Beattie, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Lewis Capaldi, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Emeli Sande, Nazareth, Cocteau Twins, The Proclaimers, AC/DC (featuring Scottish brothers Angus and Malcolm Young), Deacon Blue, Runrig, Aztec Camera, Leslie Rankine, Del Amitri, and Wet Wet Wet. These artists represent a diverse range of genres and eras, highlighting Scotland's rich musical tapestry.
