A highly anticipated revival of Lena Dunham's acclaimed HBO series 'Girls' has been announced, featuring a limited five-episode run. The original cast members, including Dunham herself, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet, are all confirmed to reprise their roles. Andrew Rannells will also return as Elijah.
Production for the new installments is slated to commence in 2027, marking nearly a decade since the series concluded its original six-season broadcast. The announcement was made via a video call shared by HBO, which showed the original four actresses discussing the potential return. The series, which originally premiered in 2012, followed the lives of four friends in New York City and was known for its frank portrayal of young adulthood and sexuality.
While Adam Driver, who played Hannah's on-again-off-again boyfriend Adam Sackler, has not yet been confirmed for the revival, his absence was noted. Lena Dunham has recently been involved with other projects, including the Netflix series 'Too Much,' and recently welcomed her first child via surrogate.
