In a recent interview, Erika Ishii, the lead voice and motion-capture actor for Sucker Punch Productions' "Ghost of Yōtei," the sequel to "Ghost of Tsushima," shares insights into the making of the game. One of the most demanding parts of Ishii's role was a dialogue-heavy cutscene that saw their character, Atsu (the Ghost of Yōtei), discover that her presumed-dead brother, Jubei, was alive and well, and was the samurai she was currently teaming up with.
Played by Noshir Dalal, a prolific video game actor, Jubei is a key character in the PlayStation game, which is set during the beginning of Japan's Edo period in the 1600s. Ishii reveals that the version of the scene included in the game, released on October 2nd, was an "actor's choice" performance from Ishii and Dalal. Despite the emotional weight of the scene, Ishii describes the shooting process as "joyful" and "so fun," praising Dalal's performance.
