In the lead-up to the highly anticipated release of Taylor Swift's 12th studio album "The Life of a Showgirl" tonight at midnight, the estate of the late George Michael has announced its approval of a collaboration between the two artists. The album will feature a track titled "Father Figure" that incorporates an interpolation of Michael's 1987 hit of the same name.
The estate expressed its delight at the opportunity, stating that when they heard the track, they "had no hesitation in agreeing to this association between two great artists" and that they know "George would have felt the same." The estate went on to wish Swift "every success" with the album and the "Father Figure" track.
In addition to the George Michael collaboration, "The Life of a Showgirl" is set to span 12 songs, with "Father Figure" listed as the fourth offering, followed by "Eldest Daughter." To promote the new album, Swift will be making a return to the late-night talk show circuit after a three-year hiatus, with scheduled appearances on The Graham Norton Show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Late Night With Seth Meyers.
