Fans Demand Return of Beloved BBC Period Drama

Period drama enthusiasts are urging the BBC to revive the highly-praised series, Gentleman Jack. Fans have taken to social media platforms to express their strong desire for a third season, with many declaring it the "best thing" they have ever watched on television. The show, set in 1830s Yorkshire, is based on the extraordinary real-life diaries of Anne Lister, a landowner and industrialist. Lister is remembered as one of Britain's first openly gay women, and the series depicts her life at Shibden Hall, her family estate.

Created by Sally Wainwright, Gentleman Jack first aired in 2019 and has garnered significant critical acclaim over its two seasons, evidenced by a remarkable 92% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics. Despite the series concluding four years ago, a recent throwback clip posted by the BBC reignited fan passion. Numerous viewers commented, pleading for the show's return and lamenting its perceived cancellation. Those eager to revisit the drama can currently stream both seasons one and two on BBC iPlayer.
