Gaza Film Academy Launches at Venice

The Gaza Cinema Academy was launched at the Venice Film Festival by prominent Palestinian, Arab, and international filmmakers and industry professionals.

This new entity is dedicated to creating a sustainable environment for film education, training, and production in Gaza. Its goal is to connect emerging Palestinian filmmakers with the broader international film community.

Supported by notable figures like Kaouther Ben Hania, Annemarie Jacir, Mai Masri, and actors Hiam Abbas and Ramy Youssef, the academy will focus on supporting young talent, particularly women. It aims to develop and produce new Palestinian films.

The academy plans to build partnerships with film festivals, cultural institutions, film funds, and production companies. It aspires to establish an international network to support Gaza's emerging film talent, enhance learning and production opportunities, and help their films reach worldwide audiences.

Filmmakers emphasize cinema's role in Gaza not just as art, but as a tool for preserving memory, reclaiming narrative, and empowering a new generation to tell its own stories. They invite global partners to join in building this vital space for creativity and expression.
