Singer Gavin DeGraw, best known for his hit song "I Don't Want to Be" which served as the theme for the television series "One Tree Hill," has revealed a surprising fact: he has never actually watched the show.
DeGraw shared in an interview that the opportunity to have his song featured on the series came unexpectedly. While living in New York City and performing in local venues, he received a call asking to use his song, to which he agreed despite his lack of television viewership.
Despite not being a regular viewer, DeGraw holds affection for the "One Tree Hill" cast and crew. He remains an active participant in the show's community, regularly attending fan conventions and reunions. He also made a few guest appearances as himself.
The "One Tree Hill" series, which concluded in 2012 after nine seasons, starred actors like Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush. A potential revival has reportedly stalled, with Sophia Bush citing network acquisitions as a factor.
DeGraw rereleased his debut album, "Chariot," in 2024, celebrating its 20th anniversary, and continues to tour and engage with fans.
