29 Aug
Summary
- Appeals court upheld a $7.1 million judgment against The Game.
- The lawsuit stems from a sexual battery claim filed over a decade ago.
- The rapper's appeal focused on notification and summons procedures.

A California appeals court recently upheld a substantial multimillion-dollar judgment against rapper The Game. The decision confirmed a $7.1 million award to Priscilla Rainey, resolving a legal battle that began over a decade ago.
This latest appeal by the rapper focused primarily on procedural aspects, specifically challenging the methods used for notifying him of court proceedings. Arguments were made that the judgment should be voided due to alleged issues with the summons and the mailing of a court order for publication.
The appellate court, however, disagreed with the rapper's assertions. It determined that the summons substantially complied with California law. Furthermore, the court ruled that Rainey was not legally obligated to personally mail the publication order to him.
The case's origins trace back to August 2015, when Rainey filed a sexual battery lawsuit against The Game. The suit alleged an incident occurred in May of that year during the production of his VH1 reality series, "She's Got Game." Rainey accused the rapper of sexual assault during an off-camera event near Chicago. A jury ultimately found him liable for the incident.
