Summary
- Iconic original trilogy characters arrive permanently in 2026.
- Millennium Falcon ride gets new story with Mandalorian and Grogu.
- Original Star Wars music will play throughout the land.

Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set to significantly alter its narrative continuity, moving beyond its original sequel trilogy focus. Beginning April 29, 2026, fan-favorite characters from the original Star Wars trilogy, including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo, will become permanent residents of the land. These characters will engage with guests in spontaneous, story-driven interactions.
The popular Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride will also see a substantial update. On May 22, 2026, a new version will launch, introducing a storyline that partners guests with The Mandalorian and Grogu on a smuggling mission across various Star Wars planets.
Additionally, John Williams' iconic Star Wars scores will finally be played throughout Galaxy's Edge, enriching the atmosphere. Visual elements, such as signage and props, will also be adjusted to reflect the expanded timeline, with the First Order Cargo store becoming Black Spire Surplus.
While these changes primarily impact Disneyland in California, the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run update will also debut at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida on May 22, 2026. However, Florida's version will maintain its sequel trilogy focus and will not feature the original trilogy characters or music throughout the land.
