A previously little-known detail reveals that Sunny Deol's decision to sign the film was influenced by a potent dialogue. This dialogue was meant for the pivotal scene where Tara Singh first confronts Sakina's father, Ashraf Ali.
The original line by Tara Singh was intended to be, "Baap ban ke beti ko vida kar do. Nahin to saare Lahore ko dahej mein lekar jaaoonga." However, the filmmakers chose to omit it. This decision stemmed from concerns about potentially offending a minority community and the perception of the dialogue sounding pro-dowry.
Consequently, a modified version was used in the final cut: "Baap ban kar beti ko vida kar dijiye. Isi mein sabki bhalaai hai. Warna aaj yeh jatt bigad gaya, toh saikdon ko le marega." This suggests the original dialogue held significant power for Sunny Deol.
Remarkably, this deleted dialogue was eventually incorporated into the sequel, Gadar 2, released in 2023. It appears in a scene where a character reads a quote referencing the original line, stating, "Damad hai woh Pakistan ka. Usse nariyal do, teeka lagao.
