In November 2025, FX announced that it has ordered a new spinoff series set in the Snowfall universe. The untitled show is set to premiere on Hulu and will take place shortly after the events of the original Snowfall series, in the 1990s.
The spinoff will follow a recovering addict who is striving to take West Coast rap to the mainstream, all while gang wars erupt and record labels move to exploit the burgeoning hip hop culture for their own gain. The series is being developed by Malcolm Spellman, who previously worked on the FX documentary series Hip Hop Uncovered, and will feature a cast led by Gail Bean and Isaiah John, who reprised their Snowfall roles.
According to FX Entertainment president Nick Grad, the new series will delve into "one of the most formative eras in music with the birth of the West Coast rap revolution." Spellman's deep knowledge of the subject matter, combined with the proven creative team behind Snowfall, is expected to deliver a compelling and authentic exploration of this pivotal moment in music history.
