- ABC's 'High Potential' is one of five adaptations of 'HPI'.
- The French 'HPI' achieved highest ratings in a decade.

The French police procedural "Haut Potentiel Intellectuel" (HPI), which debuted in 2021, has inspired multiple international adaptations, including ABC's "High Potential." This original series, starring Audrey Fleurot as Morgane Alvaro, quickly gained popularity. Its success was underscored by achieving the highest audience ratings for a French series in the last decade before concluding its run last September.
"High Potential" mirrors the premise of "HPI," featuring a brilliant but unconventional protagonist who assists law enforcement. In the American version, Kaitlin Olson plays Morgan Gillory, who aids the LAPD, a contrast to Morgane Alvaro's role with the Lille police headquarters in northern France. Both characters clash with by-the-book detectives, portrayed by Daniel Sunjata and Mehdi Nebbou, respectively.
Beyond ABC's adaptation, "HPI" has spawned four other European remakes: "Excellent Nikol" in Slovakia, "The Cases of the Extraordinary Marty" in the Czech Republic, "IQ 160" in Greece, and "The Reluctant Genius" in Hungary. Despite the original series' conclusion, its production company has hinted at the possibility of a future spinoff.
