The daughter of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, known secretly as 'Bibi', has died at the age of 48 following a lengthy struggle with chordoma, a rare form of spinal cancer. Her passing was confirmed by her husband, who stated that she died peacefully and that her ashes were scattered in the Alps. Mercury reportedly cherished his daughter, referring to her as 'Bibi' and 'trésor', and allegedly wrote Queen songs such as 'Bijou' and 'Don't Try So Hard' with her in mind.
Her existence was revealed in a bombshell book published last summer by music writer Lesley-Ann Jones. Jones stated that Mercury's daughter was on a mission to reveal the truth about her father's life, challenging previous narratives. The daughter had reportedly been diagnosed with cancer at a young age, leading her family to relocate frequently for treatment. Despite periods of remission, the cancer returned, prompting her decision to contact Jones to help tell her story.
Before her death, the daughter, who was a doctor, expressed a desire to keep her identity private to protect her career and patients, stating she "didn't want to share my Dad with the whole world." She had also expressed distress over attempts by Mercury's former fiancée, Mary Austin, to deny her existence and discredit the book. The family is now considering releasing photographs of her, including some with Freddie Mercury.
