Fortnite V-Bucks Price Hike: What You Need to Know
11 Mar
Summary
- V-Bucks, Fortnite's digital currency, will see a price increase effective March 19.
- Epic Games cites increased operating costs for Fortnite as the reason for the change.
- New pricing impacts V-Bucks bundles, exact amount packs, and various game passes.

Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks, is subject to a price increase beginning March 19. This adjustment means players will receive fewer V-Bucks for the same amount of real-world money compared to previous rates. Epic Games has stated that the rising costs of operating Fortnite necessitate these changes to maintain the game's services.
The price adjustments extend beyond standard V-Bucks bundles, also impacting the "Exact Amount Pack," which allows for precise currency purchases. Furthermore, the cost of various passes within Fortnite, such as the Battle Pass, OG Pass, Music Pass, and Lego Pass, is being revised. Fortnite Crew subscription stipends of V-Bucks will also be reduced.
Epic Games also highlighted its Epic Rewards program, which offers a percentage back on purchases made through its payment system. This incentive can offset some of the increased V-Bucks cost by providing credits for future spending on the Epic Games Store or within supported titles like Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League.
The company's recent legal successes against major tech platforms have provided Epic with greater flexibility in its payment strategies. By encouraging the use of its own payment system, Epic aims to bypass third-party app store fees, potentially reshaping digital economies within applications.
