The upcoming Cochin Carnival in Fort Kochi is poised for a significantly larger celebration this New Year, with organizers expecting a greater attendance than the previous year's impressive seven to eight lakh visitors. Preparations are underway to ensure a vibrant and inclusive event for all.
Cultural performances and visual spectacles will be hosted at Veli Ground, Vasco da Gama Beach, and Parade Ground, offering a diverse array of entertainment. Special attention is being given to essential amenities, including drinking water, sanitation, parking, and transportation, with various departments coordinating their efforts.
The major festivities are scheduled to occur from December 27th to 31st, with heightened alertness requested on days anticipated to draw larger crowds. A follow-up meeting in the second week of December will review departmental arrangements, ensuring a well-coordinated and successful carnival experience.
Logistical support includes enhanced police presence for law and order, comprehensive health services with ambulances and medical staff, and food safety squads. KSRTC will manage bus services, and Ro-Ro boats will operate extended hours for transport. Safety measures for stages, power supply, and water facilities are being meticulously planned, alongside a round-the-clock control room for seamless coordination.
