Forrest Gump Actor's Son Passes Away After 5-Year Cancer Battle

Nearly two years ago, in January 2024, Gary Sinise's son, Mac Sinise, tragically lost his battle with a rare form of cancer called chordoma. Mac was just 33 years old at the time of his passing.

The "Forrest Gump" actor has since been navigating the grief of losing a child, but he has also found a way to keep Mac's memory alive. Sinise recently revealed that his son had left behind a "treasure chest" of unfinished music, which the actor has been working to complete and release.

Last year, Sinise released Mac's posthumous album, "Resurrection & Revival: Part 2," which began shipping on what would have been Mac's 34th birthday. Sinise says his son wanted all the proceeds from the album's vinyl sales to go to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which supports veterans and their families.

Now, Sinise is working on the third part of the "Resurrection & Revival" series, determined to honor Mac's legacy of service and his passion for music. Though the loss of a child is undoubtedly a profound and ongoing grief, Sinise has found solace in the treasure trove of melodies his son left behind, seeing them as signs from above.
