- Web series 'The Bast*rds of Bollywood' reportedly maligns Wankhede's reputation

In a legal battle against streaming giants, former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit seeking ₹2 crore in damages from Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment. Wankhede alleges that the web series 'The Bast*rds of Bollywood' has portrayed him in a "false, malicious and defamatory" manner.
The Delhi High Court, however, has questioned the maintainability of Wankhede's plea, asking him to establish how the case has a cause of action in the national capital. The court has directed Wankhede to amend his petition to specifically demonstrate how his reputation has been impacted in Delhi.
Wankhede, who gained national prominence for leading the investigation in the Aryan Khan drugs case, claims the controversial series was deliberately conceptualized to malign his reputation. The plea also alleges that the show's content violates India's laws, including the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.
As the legal battle continues, the controversy surrounding 'The Bast*rds of Bollywood' has placed Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment under the spotlight. The outcome of the Delhi High Court's scrutiny will determine whether Wankhede's defamation suit can proceed in the national capital.
